GoDaddy: Grant Domain Access
How to share DNS management access or update nameservers in your GoDaddy account. This takes about 5 minutes, and you only need to do it once.
Before you start
- A GoDaddy account with login credentials
- Your domain registered with GoDaddy
- The nameserver addresses we provide (we’ll send these to you separately)
Steps
-
Sign in to your GoDaddy account
Go to
godaddy.comand click Sign In in the top-right corner. Use the email address and password associated with your GoDaddy account. If you use Google or Facebook to sign in, that works too.Tip: If you’ve forgotten your password, click Forgot Password on the sign-in page. GoDaddy will send a reset link to your email. -
Go to My Products
Once you’re logged in, click your name or initials in the top-right corner, then select My Products from the dropdown menu. This page shows everything tied to your GoDaddy account, including your domains.
-
Find your domain and open DNS settings
Scroll down to the Domains section. Find the domain you’d like us to manage and click the DNS button next to it. If you don’t see a DNS button, click the three-dot menu icon on the right side of the domain row and select Manage DNS.
-
Option A (recommended): Update your nameservers
This is the standard setup we use for all projects. On the DNS page, scroll down to the Nameservers section. Click the Change button (or Edit on some account layouts).
-
Enter custom nameservers
Select Enter my own nameservers (advanced). You’ll see two input fields. Type or paste the nameserver addresses we sent you, one per field. If there are more than two, click Add Nameserver to add extra fields. Double-check each address for typos.
Tip: Nameserver addresses usually look something likens1.example.comandns2.example.com. Copy and paste them from our email to avoid mistakes. -
Save your changes
Click Save. GoDaddy may show a confirmation dialog warning that changing nameservers will affect your DNS. This is expected. Confirm the change by clicking Continue or Yes, I consent.
Nameserver changes typically take effect within a few hours, but can take up to 24 to 48 hours to fully propagate. We’ll confirm on our end once everything is connected.
-
Option B (alternative): Delegate DNS access instead
If you’re unable to change your nameservers (for example, your hosting provider requires their own nameservers), there’s an alternative. Go to the DNS management page for your domain and look for a section called Delegate Access near the bottom. Click Invite to Access, enter the email address we provided, and select DNS Management as the permission level. Click Send Invitation to complete the process.
This lets us manage your DNS records directly in GoDaddy. We recommend Option A (nameserver change) whenever possible, as it gives us the most control over performance and security for your site.
Common Issues
I can’t find the DNS settings for my domain
Make sure you’re on the My Products page, not the My Domains page. The DNS button appears in the product listing next to each domain. If your domain was purchased through a different GoDaddy account (for example, a previous web designer set it up), you may need to sign in with that account instead.
I don’t remember my GoDaddy login
NaN
I changed the nameservers but my site hasn’t updated yet
Nameserver changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to fully take effect. This is normal and depends on how quickly the global DNS system updates. You don’t need to do anything else. We’ll monitor the change on our end and let you know once everything is connected.
